New Green500 award winners announced Sept 2009

Crowne Plaza London - The City Platinum Award
Platinum award

This is the first hotel to achieve this award. Crowne Plaza has reduced its energy consumption by implementing several campaigns across the business. One of the campaigns has been to engage its guests, simply by asking them to request that their sheets and towels be replaced, rather than doing so automatically, resulting in month on month cost savings of 25% since the campaign began.

Other initiatives include, engaging the hotel staff by having a Green Team committee, benchmarking the hotels green commitment against other properties in the group, separating waste, prior to collection, thereby maximising the amount that can be re-cycled and minimising land fill, and implementing a sustainable, integrated energy management system.
